Ice Cream Festival

Every year Utica has an Ice Cream Festival. It is so much fun! Tractor rides, crafts, food (deep fried everything including cheesecake) and tons of ice cream are just some of the activies enjoyed. It is very down home Ohio style so what's not to love? First thing we did this year was head to the horse rides. Eli picked the biggest horse available. He did need help getting on it, but after that he was a real cowboy.

Abby getting a ride on her pick of horses. This girl loves to ride.

Eli with his new rapid fire rubber band gun...what was I thinking. Notice Abby keeping a safe distance from her brother.

Here are Abby and Eli participating in the border collie demonstration. They are in the middle group and are being circled by the ducks as the ducks were being herded by the dog. This is a favorite show for us every year. Imagine, dogs that do exactly what they are told...

The Bridge

We finally finished the bridge over the creek this week along with mowing most of the 12 acres. It took all day but was so much fun. As you can tell, the creek is a little low. Over one week with no rain and it is killing us.

The Chicks Arrived!

Our Barred Rock chicks came Thursday. They are so cute. And funny (picture two chicks with one worm stretched between them, worm gets longer and chicks get more and more frantic).

Here they are all huddled under their heat lamp first thing in the morning.

A view of their house and the garden.

More on the Chicken Coop

Today we worked some more on the chicken coop (the chicks arrive in a week or so!!). Ron is just about done with the yard roof and then he will start on fencing it in. It has been a ton of work and no end in sight! Trim, more paint and the interior still to do, plus electrical and water. Store bought eggs would have been a lot cheaper.
